Pet Urine & Odor Removal Rockford IL
He’s Your Best Friend. Not Your Carpet’s!
For many families, their pets are a vital part of their family unit. Just like other family members, we normally don’t get rid of them when they have “accidents.” And while pets can and do provide a variety of benefits within households, their “accidents” can also create challenges. Pet urine on carpet, rugs, upholstery or leather can do much more than cause unpleasant odor.
Facts You Need to Know About Pet Urine in Your Carpeting!
• Urine deposited on carpet does not stay on the surface. It penetrates the fibers and contaminates both the backing of the carpet and the flooring material below the carpet. Often, without your knowledge, pets will urinate continually in the same general location, causing significant contamination and damage.
• Urine odors can permeate from the floor, be it cement or wood, from the tack strips, and even from the framework of the house behind the walls.
• As urine dries, the liquid evaporates but the urine crystals become even more concentrated and pungent. Simple cleaning will not remove this odor. In fact, these urine crystals are frequently re-activated by moisture. Have you noticed that urine odors become more noticeable as humidity increases? Similarly, the moisture of any cleaning process may cause the urine odor to become more pronounced.
• Urine can also cause permanent color damage, either from adding color by dying the carpet fibers or removing color by releasing carpet dyes.

Option# 1
We do our “Normal” carpet cleaning with deodorizer added into the pre-spray. Our normal carpet cleaning with the deodorizer is only 10% effective and will not remove the pet odor as the odor is possibly in the pad and sub-floor. To remove the odor, the source of the odor must be completely removed. The next most effective step is Option #2. (Option # 1 is only an extra $7.50 per room).
Option # 2
We rinse the spot thoroughly with water by using a special extraction tool. We apply our deodorizing enzyme treatment-enzymes will attack the bacteria that causes the odor.
Once the enzyme treatment has taken affect, we rinse the area out with the special extraction tool that is specifically designed to remove the urine and deodorizing enzyme treatment from the padding. By removing most of the urine from the padding we are eliminating most of the odor as well. However, since the padding has pockets like a sponge and the sub-floor will hold odor as well and can not be treated with this method, we are unable to remove all of the odor. This method is 50-80% effective and may not eliminate the pet odor completely. To remove the odor, the source of the odor must be completely removed. For a 100% effective method see Option #3. (Option #2 is $35.00 per room plus the normal cost of cleaning).
Option # 3
We pull back the carpet in the effected areas and remove all affected padding. We seal the sub-floor with odor counter acting sealer, replace the old padding, re-install the carpet we previously pulled back, treat the carpet with our deodorizing enzyme treatment and rinse the carpet thoroughly. This method is 100% effective and guaranteed! (This option is $3.00 a square foot plus the cost of seams, tack strips, and metal strips if applicable).
